3 reasons why the iWatch is a stupid idea.

Considering the fact that Apple haven't released a product in about two months, they are obviously starting to run out of ideas. This becomes even more clear when we look at the rumoured new Apple product, the iWatch.

The basic idea seems to involve strapping an iPod Nano onto your wrist and giving it the ability to make phone calls. I guess it sounds pretty good when said like that, but the point I want to make is that nobody actually needs it. By now, we all have a smartphone which rather conveniently comes with the ability to play music. Why then should this be made redundant with something that we can shove on our wrist?

Here's a few reasons I think it will fail.

1. Listening to music will be awkward

It's taken everybody a few years, but we seem to have just worked out how to listen to music on the go. We plug the headphones into our device, conceal said headphones under our clothes, and have them appearing out of our collar before connecting to our ears. It's like a military operation. However, Imagine connecting the headphone to your wrist, and having them wave around uncomfortably for your whole journey. It's just annoying. Of course, this will only be a problem if the iWatch actually has a music player, but I'd be bloody surprised if it didn't .

2. We like feeling classy

There's something about a classic analogue watch that gives us a bit of a classy feel. We feel rich and important by wearing them, and it almost gives us some sort of heritage. A watch is a classic example of brilliant craftsmanship, and although you may not realise it. I think you appreciate it as much as everyone else. What Apple are doing is going against the norm and 'upsetting the apple cart', which isn't something anybody wants. Buying an iWatch is basically a way of submitting yourself to technology. Saying that we can't do anything in our lives without some sort of technological aid. I'm not sure about you, but I'm just not ready to do that just yet.

3. We get bored too easily

I think that although we don't realise it. We are all getting slightly bored of iOS (I mention this in more detail here). I think if we saw the same interface on your phone, tablet, and watch on a daily basis, it would just get really boring. Just imagine, you'd be so wrapped up in Apple's interface you'll try to 'slide to unlock' your car door. So, surely it'll be fine to buy an iWatch if you don't have another Apple device? Well no, because Apple have been manipulating consumer choices for years, making there products far better to those already with Apple products. Nevermind.

To be perfectly honest, the whole concept of the iWatch just annoys me. It genuinly seems like Apple have started listing things they can put the letter 'i' in front of. Hopefully one day they just say iGiveUp.
