Step into the future.

Ever seen Star Trek? Well occasionally those guys would have to tow another ship right? Obviously they didn't just hook a few cables around it and pull in around space, they used a tractor beam, basically a laser that can pull stuff. Well if you're a massive Star Trek fan and you're currently sitting at the computer in full Spock costume, then I've got some great news for you!

N.A.S.A. is actively working on a project than involves creating a real tractor beam, better still, some folks over at St. Andrews University and Institute of Scientific Instruments have produced a working prototype!

Despite it's 'anal bead' appearance, these things look really cool

It's early days for this project, but maybe it's a massive leap into the future for technology? Either way it's an excellent use of research resources. These things may even go on sale one day? Available for all to buy. I'll definitely wait for the handheld version.
